To blog or not to blog!

As I sit here contemplating what to write in this newly created blog, I find myself asking, is this really necessary? I have been told blogs can help increase your exposure in the industry as well as give your readers an opportunity to sample your writing Styles. I reflected back on the numerous blogs I have reviewed just this past week, and I asked myself...What sticks out to you most? My immediate thoughts were, for the most part many of them appeared to be used as a venting process based on something or someone Else's views. Others appeared to be used as an opportunity block to promote and or elevate themselves. Again, I ask myself, is this really necessary?

I must admit, I have found myself enjoying many of the responses and I have marveled at their passion as they delved into what they truly believed. Now I am trying to reconcile how this will benefit me in my quest to becoming an bonafide writer. Hm, let me marinate on this for a moment. Then it occurred to me...Yes! There could be significant advantages to creating a weekly or monthly blog. For example, it does have the potential to increase my readership, and it does afford me the opportunity to continue to develop my writing skills, while keeping in touch with my audience. Likewise, I also do not wish to use this as my own personal podium to gird myself up. Nor, do I wish to become an authority on every issue which is put to the test.

I am very interested in learning your thoughts. Help me, as I tackle this question pondering in my head...To blog or not to blog? Give me a blast and share your blogging experiences. I look forward to hearing your comments.

Continued blessings, and as always...

Happy Reading!

Blog On...I enjoy reading well-written and well-thought out blogs...and I hope to jump on the blogging band wagon soon from a business perspective. Currently, I do it from a personal perspective and it's generally about something in the news or my family that I want to share with others...I have tons of themes and enough to do a blog a day but right now I just don't have the time.
Good luck to you on your new venture,

yasmin

Hi Sistalove. Blogging is good for the creative and entrepreneurial soul. It keeps your writing skills in shape, allows you to expand the reach of your creative voice (i.e. your blog on being a diva over 40 etc.), helps you market your works in progress and books, establishes an online audience that can help generate book sales and book readings etc., and encourages you and others to network. I am sure there are other ways it helps too. You are gifted.... I love your words. Keep sharing. Peace and Love, Ananda

Blogging has presented me with a bit of dilemma. It tends to be rather easy for me to formulate responses to queries and questions. However, determining a topic and then expounding on it without outside stimuli has proven difficult at best.

To be certain, I could rant about this injustice or that. But to what avail? Presently I have a site specifically for blogging. I have yet to make a single post. I share a blog site with another and in the beginning I posted several lengthy articles. However, I soon lost interest and "that was that."

I imagine blogging is not for everyone. I imagine one needs to have a knack for it or a burning desire to speak. Maybe one of these days I'll get a wild hair and start blogging like there was no tomorrow.

Be well,
William

Blog away, I blog for various reasons and I enjoy blogging. It gives me the opportunity to not only promote my work, but the work of others which is where my heart is...

Good luck with your project.

I blog and I find it fun. I don't have time to do it regularly, but I try not to let a month pass by without a blogging about a lil sumpin sumpin. My blog has not real focus; some of it is about my current project, my reviews and such, and some of it is my observations, opinions and so forth regarding world affairs. It is a constructive release, I think, and a way to reach out to my audience and for them to get a "feel" for the person behind the book.
