OHHH . . . please share with us more about "True Tales of Darkness" . . . I have been a comic book/sci fan fanatic since ASTRO Boy and Magnus The Robot Fighter (a fictional character created by writer/artist Russ Manning in 1963, based primarily on Tarzan.)

Magnus had an interesting storyline relating to free will and ethics of machine intelligence. The creator also developed some stories about native Americans. We can present black characters and give younger generations a more balanced selection of male and female heroes.

Be sure to take a look at some of the groups we have here at BAS. An afrocentric speculative fiction/comic book event would be great to offer. Let's put all our heads together and see what we can come up with.

Greetings!

Wow!. . . . . I thoroughly read more than my fair share of comics growing up -- my cousins and brothas were sooooo into it. . . . I recall I even bought a few issues myself. . . And to think I missed that whole absence of Black Power issue. . . . Or maybe I did -- I never bought ANY comic books for my children [son & daughter]. . . . .

Asante sana for the posting -- its a great 'comical' portrayal of some subtle yet necessary truth!

very interesting. I'm not really a comic book fan so I'm not familiar with any black comic book super heroes. But this had some valid points.

Greetings, Stafford,

Funny and true... As a comic fan, it has long amused me that for some reason, back in the 60's and 70's, anytime the (predominantly Caucasian) storywriters created an African-American crimefighter, the character's superhero name had to let everyone know they were black (as if none of us have eyes...smile). I'm happy that nowadays, this is a bit better than it used to be. Thanks for sharing this video!
