WINDS OF CHANGE - 11-04-2008
W hen Sam Cooke was born...
He was born by a river
A river whose current
was propelled by the winds...
Winds of change...
- Strange how seasons
via no reason
make pretty leaves of high altitude
fall to the earth...
- Funny how
life's stages
rage in growth
and in decline
after birth...
- Crazy how we realize
that if one keeps living
they will be elevated by the better
and reduced by the worse...
- Eerie how
a prospering human body
potentially leads
a promising life
with a guarantee
that it will eventually see...the dirt...
N o matter how traditional...
Regardless of how hardheaded...
Rigid
Stern
Common
Proverbial
Cliché...
All things MUST and WILL change...
No rationale needed
Signals are obeyed
as growth warnings are heeded...
W hen a warrior is born...
automatically
is he sworn
into the kingdom (his battle theater)
With God given
ability to move heavy masses
flipping 180's to 360's and vice versa
sending students to teach
and teachers to classes...
M ountains are chopped in
half with his hands edges
Wedges are driven between
various forces of evil...
When he speaks
your spine feels a sensation...
When he moves
there is no sign
of trepidation...
Warring with heavenly weaponry
hurling battle cries while rocking many nations...
Getting down and dirty
when duty calls in the trenches
but immaculate are appearances during celebratory occasions...
C hange for the better
alleviates all excuses...
Change for the better
tends to replace
engines with cabooses...that should have been engines in the first place...
Change for the better
means that buses had to be boycotted
Change for the better
sees 400 years of steps
‘cross the Edmond Pettus Bridge, as feet trotted...
C hange leads to new vision
but should not erase the character earned via
9-11, Vietnam, Katrina, Pearl Harbor, and so many others...
Change should help heal division
but should not discount nor reduce
strides made to unite black, white, red, yellow, brown as sisters and brothers...
C hange truly does exist in AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL
Betsy Ross tossed and guided the threads of Old Glory
Rosa, Martin, and Barack, to name a few...
helped change the game as God commanded and still oversees our story...
.and the story by no means is over...as the work has just begun...
T his is truly an American moment...11-04-2008
...and I am truly proud to be an American...
God bless the world...and God bless The United States of America...
