THOMAS OVERTON is NEXT. He's is an author/screenwriter who stumbled upon this new writing career with no real previous writing background In 2003, he was a Business major studying full-time at Drexel University where he'd written numerous term papers. Several
of his college professors would tell him that he was a good writer
and their complements began to spark his writing interests. In that
same year, Mr. Overton had gotten into some trouble and sentenced
to do two years in the county prison. While incarcerated, he
decided to practice and refine some of the writing talents that
he'd been praised for back in college. He came up with a concept
that one of his fellow inmates thought would be a good movie. And
with that encouragement, even in the well of misery that prison
facilitates, Thomas began to write urban fictional stories in the
form of screenplays. Not knowing how to structure a script, he had
David Trottier's "Screenwriters' Bible" sent in and he studied it
from front to back. At the completion of his two-year bid, he'd
written four completed screenplays, eleven synopses, and thirty-two
titles.
Since his release, obtaining a film deal and/or a literary agent
has been difficult, but he would not be discouraged. Thomas decided
to convert one of his completed scripts into a novel, something
tangible that would help to market his vision to a mass market, and
perhaps creating a built-in audience that would support his future
films. His first novel, "Murder With a DEADLY WEAPON" will be
published and released through A Nu Direction Publishing in 2009.
Besides landing a small publishing deal, Mr. Overton has been
trying to actually accomplish a few other tasks with his written
works. Tasks such as finding funding for one of his scripts so that
it can be shot and distributed independently; he's seeking some
formal representation so that he may be able to sell some of his
other works, and he's developing his own publishing and filmmaking
company called "LIVE2DIE PUBLISHING". Thomas just wants to become a
successful, working writer and to accomplish every
filmmaker/author's dream: to have a successful novel and a
profitable film. So, ANYONE in the filmmaking/publishing world who
