My Cultural Conscious Thought Lead Me To Conclude...Black Is Black!

can somebody please tell me why in 2011 we (black people) are still beefing with each other about skin tone?

black is black!

what a borin world we would be livin in if all black people looked the same.

all black people are beautiful despite the negative images of us that go forth (sometimes) by way of the media and sadly oftentimes by our own doin.

the sad truth is there was a time when it was forced upon us to forget our language, our traditions, our yesterdays, our regalness, our foundations and all that shaped us into the people we started off bein.

when you take somethin away you have to replace it with somethin else. so,our royalty was replaced with less than generic status. our language was replaced with a foreign tongue that literally had to be beaten into the memory of our ancestors.  our solid foundation was replaced with doubt and unsurety. our confidence was replaced with self hate i.e...dislikin our black skin. that turned into dislikin any black skin that is darker than our own.

today too many (light skinned) black folks think they have an advantage when the truth is they do not. we've been goin through too much and we're gonna keep going through too much until the end of time, cause for reasons unknown to me apparently somebody handed down the word that that was how things were gonna go down for us. i know it and you all know it too. it really leads me to think that if we all came together to bring about a change will we form our own color line?  and if so, which one of yall are gonna assume authority to tell me where in the shappy i fit in?

high yellow, redbone, tan, golden, caramel, mocha, chocolate, Wesley Snipes, patent leather, char coal, Yaphet Coto, tar, Grace Jones,  it's all the same to me...BLACK,  and doggone it's alright!

if you are a black person readin this like it, live it, love it and be it cause at the end of the day you can't be nothin other than what GOD made you to be.

if you are not a black person readin this be what GOD made you to be...a true intelect that is amazed at this profound selection of literature that you are readin at this very moment as you say to yourself, "Real talk, that Mizzez is one cool chick!" and doggone it, that's alright too! ~lol~

that's all. i said it. i'm out.

be easy.

Advice on Exploring Erotica in Your Writing

MediaBistro's Morning Media Menu had a conversation with author Jamie Brenner about advice for writers looking to explore this newly crowded genre. An excerpt from Brenner: My first erotic novel came out two years ago. The landscape feels completely different. There is not just the hope to reach a mainstream audience with erotic novel, but the expectation that success is reaching everyone, not just the genre readers. Fifty Shades of Grey really raised the bar for that. At the same time, working…See More
