By popular demand, Kwame Alexander's dynamic "Do the Write Thing" seminar is back. It's open to anyone interested in writing/publishing a book. Do you have an idea for a children's book? New York Welcomes Book-in-a-Day
Kwame Alexander's Book-in-a-Day program continues to "build books briskly." This month, juniors and seniors at Hauppauge High School in Long Island, NY participated in the Book-in-a-Day program. "I read through both books and I cannot express to you how touched I was by these amazing works of art! There were several surprises, such as the foreword and the introductions, that literally filled me with much emotion," said Kim Hardwick, ELA Coordinator for Hauppauge. She so excited about being the first school in New York to bring BID, that she arranged for two classes to participate. Which, of course, means TWO BOOKS. The students wrote and published poems about friendship, the environment, and a range of topics. The students are having a book launch party on December 17th. If you're in NY, and would like to come, let us know. If you want your students to become authors, contact us about bringing Book-in-a-Day to a school or community near you. Not only is BID a great way to open young minds to the power of writing and poetry, it's also a special way to commemorate their literary/literacy achievements.
