Dealing with True Friends

When a true friend hurts you what do you do? Do just cut ties? Do you work it out? Or do you forgive and move on? True friends the ones we have known for years, since the playground, since playing tag, passing notes, having crushes, and dressing alike. The friends that you may not share those specific memories with but the ones who have a special place in your heart the ones you have a bond with like no other. The friend that you can speak to with your eyes and there are no words needed, you two have your own language. The friend that can finish your sentences as if they are reading your mind. The one that truly “gets you”. When this person hurts or betrays you what do you do? How do you handle this situation? Do just cut all ties with person that is like family and act like they never existed? Or do try to work it out and move on? I have personally went through a situation like this with someone I considered my true friend and I was so hurt that I chose to cut all ties. Looking back now I don’t know if this was the best decision but at the time but I felt that our differences couldn’t be worked out, but there are plenty of times now that this person crosses my mind. I am often reminded when I see people that knew us as BFF’s or when I look at old pictures or just think of old memories. At times it hurts but life must go on. How would you handle this situation?

you react to what you need. if there are no other people in your life or nothing good to fill the void created by a friend's wrong, most folks will try to rebuild the friendship. makes sense if there's nothing else. if you have other friends or other "things" to move on to, you will move on. life always tries to balance itself.

Cutting all ties was the right thing to do. Looking back was the wrong thing to do.
