CRACK CAME IN (Pt 1.)


Was a time when our families held strong to hope/love and faith
(now replaced by broken homes/loss/hurt and hate) was a time when
our families held on strong through the good times/the bad times /the short
and the long/a time when folks had unity and ambitions/desire to succeed
in life/the fire to be free in life/relationships that were'nt built on lust and
sexual gratification/people were in it for the long haul nd not a booty call/
Then CRACK CAME IN.....
Stole mothers from their children/children from their mamma's/turned husbands
and boy friends into P-I-M-P's/ de masculinized grown ass men/bullied and
daggered our women/placed fathers behind bars/demonized ghetto citizens/
created waves of ghetto super stars livin' large off the pain of the people.

When CRACK CAME IN......
Babies were born out of wed lock/wives trickin' themselves out on the corners
for the rock/Grand sons nd daughters out on the stroll/rollin' their
grands for their Social Security checks/pension checks/needing to check
them selves/forgetting about who they were/what they were/where they had come from/
only knowing what they'd become.
Sons beat the hell out of their mammas so they could get their shit/get their fix/
get that hit/get their lift.

When CRACK CAME IN .....
Daughters beat the hell out of the hearts of their fathers/ so they could smoke their shit/
turn a trick/shift and drift/ so many of us ....
watched our loved ones grow sick and die from the 1St and 7Th,4Th and 20Th letters
in the alphabet......aaaahhhh mannnnnn.....
Crack came in and sucked the marrow out the bones of the hood- The ghetto stood
still....fiendin' for a hit......
