Charity Cocktail Mixer and Silent Auction to Kick Off Launch of a New
Newark Performing and Visual Arts Academy

Newark, NJ, May 4, 2012 -- Potential Performing and Visual Arts Academy, founded by
L. Diane Jones-Brown, will kick off its inception with a Charity Cocktail Mixer and Silent Auction, Saturday, May 26, 6:00 pm, at The Woman’s Club of Upper Montclair, 200 Cooper Avenue, Upper Montclair, NJ.

“The evening will certainly be about promoting the arts and spotlighting this wonderful new performing arts academy that I have nurtured the idea to develop for the past seven years,” says Executive Director L. Diane Jones-Brown. Special guest, actor Sean Blakemore of film, theatre, television, and most notably from the daytime soap series General Hospital, will be on hand to serve as host and to mingle with guests, while the evening will feature the opportunity to network, enjoy dining, live entertainment, a special art presentation and silent auction.

The Potential Performing and Visual Arts Academy, headquartered in the burgeoning Newark Downtown Arts District, “grew out of my passion to promote the arts and with a purpose to engage young people as well,” says Ms. Jones-Brown. “I felt there was a niche for this type of arts program to expose our young people to the various and broad forms of creative expression in a fun, yet educational way.” Opening this July, the Academy will launch its summer program for youngsters and teens; providing instruction in African dance and drumming, hip hop, jazz and ballroom dancing, visual arts appreciation, computer graphics, and arts and crafts. In the fall, the Academy will continue to serve with an afterschool program, but include an emphasis on academic enrichment with HSPA and SAT prep classes.
