Agents of Literary Change

First of all, thanks so much to everyone for their heartfelt responses to this matter. It has given me an unprecedented opportunity to get to know my new "friends" better. I appreciate the fact that so many of you took time out of your busy lives to share your insights and perspectives.

Secondly, I want to apologize for the numerous blogs and comments you may have received from Mr. Pratt. It was never my intent to subject anyone to the subject beyond a theoretical discussion.

I do not want to engage anyone further than necessary on this matter, yet I do feel obligated to provide at least a brief response. I promise you, this will be the last one on the subject. We, as writers, have many other concerns in regards to our art that are far more worthy of our time and energy.

I had no idea that my blog would create such controversy, and as i stated previously, i am still working on a more impersonal, analytical companion piece. However, I am glad that my blog got people talking! You do not have to share my opinion, but at least have one! Debate and discussion are the surest cures for the apathy rampant in our stress-filled society. I often tell my students, "If you do not stand for something, you will fall for anything."

I am most indebted to Mark Anthony Jenkins who motivated me to write my original posting when he alerted me that Kulturefirst had other dissatisfied customers. Please take the time to read his comments on my page if you have not done so. My goal was never to speak for myself alone, but to speak for those who had been silenced for fear of reprisal from Mr. Pratt.

As you see, their fears were justified! Mr. Pratt is not above downright lying and threats in order to hide his tracks. I will spare you the details, but suffice it to say: I am not easily intimidated because I am follower of the Christ. Therefore, "I will fear no evil..." (23rd Psalms). Please don't worry about me, folks. I am fine, but thanks for the outpouring of support. It renews my faith in the inherent goodness and kindness of people. With that said, let's move on!

I guess my question would be...did this ish ever tried to reach some point of resolution before being thrown out like a bad pot of greens? See, this is what I hate about the net and other weak avenues people take to display their dissatifaction. Then we wonder why we never believe in or support one another. I wish there was a better way to tell more about people, but hey---I guess we will never know until the burn mark shows up. I always take bad issues and make something POSITIVE out of them! I don't keep adding negative onto it. I hope a resolution is met and peace settles back into the hearts of all parties involved!

Advice on Exploring Erotica in Your Writing

MediaBistro's Morning Media Menu had a conversation with author Jamie Brenner about advice for writers looking to explore this newly crowded genre. An excerpt from Brenner: My first erotic novel came out two years ago. The landscape feels completely different. There is not just the hope to reach a mainstream audience with erotic novel, but the expectation that success is reaching everyone, not just the genre readers. Fifty Shades of Grey really raised the bar for that. At the same time, working…See More
