Many times there are circumstances and trials that come along in our life and even our walk with God that cause us to feel discouraged and/or confused. If we are not careful, we will spend much of our time worrying and focusing on the problem instead of the fact that we have a Heavenly Father who has the solution. Instead of wasting our time panicking and reaching to anything and anyone else to be the solution, we have to take the time to seek God and His Word for what we are to do and how we are to conduct ourselves as we go through the test or trial.
We do not have to sit around questioning and wondering about
God's will. God is not the author of confusion, but of peace (I Corinthians 14:33). He gave us what His will is through His Word. He gave us the Bible. But we have to be willing to take the time to pick it up on a regular basis to find out exactly what it says about who we are and what we are able to do through Him. God has made specific promises to us (His children) in His Word, and He is faithful that promised. His promises are guaranteed to us through the blood of Jesus. He will fulfill everyone of them, but we have to do our part.
"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Numbers 23:19
The Bible shows us our inheritance and what we are entitled to just because we are a child of God. So why is it that so many do not take time to read it, meditate on it, and get it down in their spirit. Many times, even as Christians, we find ourselves reading every book and everything else but our Bibles. And other books can be excellent, but they are not The Word. Only the Word is spirit and life. And only the Word has the ability to truly transform our lives and situations. So it is the Word that we must turn to when we are confused, when we are discourage, and even when we are triumphant. It is the Word that will direct us in how to handle every situation in our lives.
"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." John 6:63
The wisest and most intelligent thing we can do is pick up our Bibles on a regular basis and find out exactly what is in it. Don't leave your Bible to the side while searching for everything and everyone else to help you. Find out what belongs to you, and find out what you need to do to get it! Search for the treasure that exists within the Word. You will know His will and find direction for your life only through God's Word and exactly what He has spoken.
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:105
