Olutunde Olufemi celebrates another wonderful collection
of poetry following in the tradition of his heart felt earlier
release, “Love Psalms” and expands on the beauty, powers
and manifestations of love. He taps into the senses: the
instant physiological reactions of seeing a Lover adorned
and appreciated as reflected in “Amazing Grace”. Sexual
tastes are echoed in the references of “Kissin U” and “In The
Heat Of The Night” that’ll stir up passion in the air like the
aroma of food seasoned just right and prepared with the right
amount of tender loving care. A yearning to be faithfully
loved and to love unconditionally with love, romance and
passion are featured in pieces like “Come To Heaven With
Me” “You As My Woman” and “Warm Me With Thy
Breast,” a poem dedicated to the love that is inspired when a man comes home from a hard day and is romantically loved by his woman. He does not let us forget the deep attraction for a woman that can occur in the piece “Beautiful Eyes” or the sweet and sour taste of her warm skin, or a woman’s scent on the sweat-soaked sheets the morning after. This collection is filled with metaphors that reminds us that love can be experienced every where, at all times from many sources even our Ancestors, our families, our friends and even ourselves. One thing is for sure. Baba Olutunde teaches us through his love poems and lyrics that love is like a baby, we must be patient with, understanding and mindful of it for it is a loving bond that can strengthen, destroy and renew us when we need it most.
