Love's Troubadours Reflection - New Documentary - black./womyn.: conversations by Tiona M. Productions

Blessings All,

Yesterday, I received a Myspace friend invitation from Tiona M Productions, a film company that recently produced black./womyn.:conversations, a feature-length documentary focusing on the lives and views of lesbians of African descent living in the United States - www.myspace.com/tionamproductions. After I logged on to the web site and read the description of the documentary, I decided to…

Should We Spank Our Children?

A few months ago I posted this very question on my blog. I am reposting it again amidst the recent frenzy over a proposed law that would ban the ability of parents to discipline their children with spanking.

Here are my thoughts.

When I had my first son, I can remember declaring that no one would ever lay a hand on my child. His grandparents of course thought that this was the most hillarious thing they had ever heard.

I soon realized that there comes a time when some… Continue

My black book

Proverbs are full of poetry and twists. They are made up of words that have been

molded for centuries, if not milleniums, until a minimum of words carry

an extraordinary potential for meaning.

Black Models Said to be Disappearing from Major Fashion Shows

Greetings Family,

(Contact Information At Bottom Of Page)

It's your friendly neighborhood "Digital Drummer" again (smile)

The article below comes from Robert Taylor, Publisher of the National Black News Journal. It is extremely relevant to our modeling and entertainment community, because it shows that even the mainstream American media is now beginning to speak out about discrimination in the fashion world.

As many of my regular readers know, we're promoting a new…

And Then There Were 3

My lady and I were supposed to celebrate our anniversary (5yrs) and she wanted me to come home early from work. It’s a little after 4pm and I’m cruisin home and thinking about what we will do for the evening. I have my top down and it’s a beautiful day, Isley Brothers playing on the radio, Living for the love of you…you know…So I pull up at the apartment, walk up the front steps and I see the old guy who sits out front and talks to everyone. He waves and…

King of The Sheets Part I

The way he made love to her was more incredible than any man she had ever met, he made her body tremble and shake in ways she never imagined. This man who seemed perfect in all ways, he was handsome, successful, sweet and generous. He would go out of his way to do things to make her smile and laugh. She loved his touch; he could put her at ease just by caressing her face.…

"The Vices of the Saints" - short horror fiction at Dark Fire Magazine

Excerpt:

"It’s dancing at the edges of my vision again; the imp. The two-foot-high

blacker-than-black wraith that lives on the periphery of my mind is my

damnation, my penance for inheriting my father’s gift of rage. Sibilant giggles

escape its fleshless throat as it capers about my home, unraveling my

concentration as it would a poorly-woven cloak. It haunts my nights with

whispers of…

Advice on Exploring Erotica in Your Writing

MediaBistro's Morning Media Menu had a conversation with author Jamie Brenner about advice for writers looking to explore this newly crowded genre. An excerpt from Brenner: My first erotic novel came out two years ago. The landscape feels completely different. There is not just the hope to reach a mainstream audience with erotic novel, but the expectation that success is reaching everyone, not just the genre readers. Fifty Shades of Grey really raised the bar for that. At the same time, working…See More
