I'm star gazed of a moon that shines so bright.
A bright moon that lights up my night.
I'm star gazed of this beauty that illuminates
in darkness that shines through.
Beauty that opens your heart and makes
you dance with the shadows of truth.
I'm star gaze of this beauty and this beauty is you.
I hope you guys and girls who love poetry enjoy what I have been writing here. Poetry is one of the best art form that…

The dream of blacks making science fiction as a concept has been in the minds of many of us since we were all children watching science fiction movies and television shows such as Buck Rogers, Star Wars, Battle Star Galactic and Star Trek. Most of us have however, found that the characters that are ethnic, as a general rule most often have been relegated to secondary roles, sidekicks, stereotypes, sex objects, dope heads, not in the show at all or my…

Hey Brother,
Can You Spare a Dime?
Theophilus A.Baptiste
I just finished reading a Forbes.com article about the top twenty money earning hip hop artist. The list contained 18 African American male artist. JZ, Fifty Cent, P-Diddy, Snoop, Ludacris, Ice Cube and others. The exceptions were Eminem and Scott Storch. From what was listed in their biographies, they all, for the most part, had an inner city up-bringing. Kanye West being an obvious exception. He, being the son of an…

The ELDERS, Inc.
Experienced Leaders Directing Efforts to Regain Sanity
Someone once said that one of the definitions of insanity was doing the same thing over and over, the same way, and expecting a different result. When I think about current attempts to right existing wrongs in the Black community, I am reminded of that definition.
Since becoming a community activist in the late 1960's, I have been involved in many meetings of African-American community residents…

The Riverside Hotel is no longer where our Friday and Saturday (November 7th and 8th) events will take place. Due to sponsorship being very low this conference year and not enough PAID registration taking place prior to the event, we could not afford to pay for that space.
WCCCD NEW Northwest campus has graciously given us the space we need in order to facilitate the conference.
Wayne County Community College District-Northwest Campus

Sitting here blogging entangled in time....
My first book is almost complete, the second is done and I'm scared s***less to start the third one....
My fundings looking low...
Is this how this writing thing is suppose to be?....
Not sure which way I should go but, I know it must be forward....
Feeling like I'm suspended in time...
Paused and distorted with my world on my shoulders...
This writing thing has to work for me....
The typical 9 to 5 just aint…

A Dream Deferred
by Langston Hughes
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
This poem was on my heart this morning so I though I would share it. This week has been the best of times and…

The elegance of her touch sends chills through my spine.
I am sustained by her beauty as rose pedals blow through the air.
All the mean while, her smile brings sunshine.

Let me penetrate your
mind with words Of lingo.
There's nothing
to see for darkness
overwhelms the night.
Let's not give in to
the seductive feelings
Of lust, so we can let
our minds unite in
truth in light.
Intellectual foreplay
creates boundaries of
exploration. Without
touching or kissing
you'll find a…

A woman, What A blessing
She smiled with the essence of beauty radiating sunshine.
Her scent is as a bouquet of roses integrated with tulips blooming
in the spring time. Her eyes, oh how they shine and are like the golden chariots
of Heaven displaying the treasures of her spirit and soul.
With the voice of an angelic tonality that has you intently
listening when she utters simplistic words of joy which are like music to your…

Below is a great article I first posted in Nov of 06. I’m reposting it this morning because after recruiting 30,000 models and entertainers as friends on MySpace, BlackPlanet, FaceBook, and Ning….I still see the same mistakes.
I have been reviewing and observing the level of professionalism and experience in this online community…

Maybe it’s me.
Maybe this has been going on for a very long time and I finally caught on.. But there is something going on.
What am I talking about?
How many of you watched the televised proceedings of the 2008 Democratic National Convention during the week of 25 August 2008 and the 2008 Republican National Convention during the week of 1 September 2008?
Did you notice anything, shall we say, “different” or “unusual”?
Well, there was a lot…

This is a wonderful day, full of life, miracles and blessings! The fresh, crisp element of autumn is in the air and God is still in control. I am a flower, blooming and full of exuberance, as I express my gratitude for being who I am and for celebrating whose I am!
No one determines my worth, or creates my destiny. As God's Spirit steers my path into my divine purpose, I realize that I am wonderfully and miraculously made. Everything about my character always has and currently exists to…
