The most important thing in my life is breaking the chains of mental slavery that bind African Americans today. Liberating us from the belief systems we learned in slavery is paramount to any other thing I can do in my lifetime. We hold on to the things we learned in slavery and they are detrimental to our psyche, they debilitate us, they cripple us emotionally and psychologically, and we defend those things to the death. It is of the utmost importance to make my people see that the things that… Continue

I’m tryna stay within Gods plan and live legit
But every check I receive from my job they garnish it
From some credit card debt I assumed when I was twenty
Now for every hundred bucks I earn they take fifty
After all my bills are paid my pockets are sooo empty
Its like God is taking away my dranking money intentionally
But I focus on prayer when I feel pressure, so I don’t fold
Prayer got me off that white, I don’t… Continue

This is day 28 of National Poetry Month but for a true poetry April is every month.
Once Upon A Time Ago
Once upon a time ago
Our Ancestors lost
Enslaved in a country
Stripped of all they knew
But they never forgot
How to pray
They tried to keep up
Their culture and customs
From the Motherland
And they forgot
The true Message
Was sent from… Continue

IT'S HARD TO SAY GOODBYE
It's hard to say goodbye
To one who was so close
Who stood by your side
Who talked to you the most
It's hard to say goodbye
To someone that you love
The fear of not seeing them
Below or up above
Why is it so hard
When you know
Death is not an end
They go on to smoother seas
Where their life starts again
It's so hard to say goodbye
When this… Continue

This is something that I wrote on April 5, 2008. I'm not a writer but sometimes I just can express myself when the time is right, I would like your comments to be honest because that is the only way I can learn and grow. Thank you.

It’s like reaching for something far away. If you keep on reaching and running without stopping, you will obtain what you are reaching for. Persevering, not quitting, but going after it with all your might, as though you have to have it; that’s the driving force. Don’t look at time as a barrier. Look at it this way, the years are going to pass anyway, so why not accomplish what you wish.
The battle starts in your mind, that’s where it is. It is a war… Continue

A ROLLER COASTER RIDE
Up and down, up and down
It’s the pull of gravity isn’t it?
You’re down longer than you’re up
Isaac said it best
It’s easier going up
But coming down is frightful
No time to prepare
Up and down, up and down
The unsteadiness is making you sick
You wanna get… Continue

As he crawled on the ground, just trying to hold on to his life, maintain his dignity she hovered over him. She watched him crawl. Her eyes were fixed on him- then she looked at me and smiled. "Don't kill him. We love him," she said. After she watched him move some more and wander off into the dust, she said, "He just wants to go get some lunch. He likes lunch."

OUR LOVE FOR EACH OTHER STARTED ALONG TIME AGO.
WHEN WE WERE BEATEN BLACK AND BLUE
WELTS ON OUR BODIES AND FELT LIKE WE COULDN’T
GO ON BY EACHOTHER WE STOOD
WHEN I WAS RAPED REPEATEDLY AND FELT SHAMED,
WITH NOWHERE TO TURN FOR SHELTER
BUT BACK TO THE ONE WHO RAPED ME U WERE THERE
TOGETHER WE HELD ON TO OUR PRIDE AND HELD EACHOTHER CLOSE
WHEN TIMES WERE TO HARD AND WE COULD TASTE OUR FREEDOM
BUT COULDN'T REACH IT WHEN YOU RAN I… Continue

In hind sight it all seems so clear …
In the first of four years I was hypnotized
A regular junkie
Love 101 flunky
Seeking heart surgery from an unqualified love physician
Wishin’ naïve little girls could ask for dreams too
I fell for you
Second year senses dictated your indifference to my sex and
Envy of my sexuality
You wanted to be inside of me, but only figuratively speaking
I was seeking your… Continue
