Short Excerpt from "Like Litter in the Wind" By L. M. Ross
“Essentially, we dream because there are songs inside our souls, though we sometimes forget their melody. We dream because our hearts are whispering singers, inspiring us to chorus. We dream because without their light and color, life would be a dreary and prosaic mistake. Each day of our existence on Earth, whether carefully or carelessly, we compose the curious Opus of Our Selves. We draw and plan and etch our dreams, we compose the lyrics upon this parchment of the soul. And yet,…

Revolutionary Me
Marcus, Malcolm, Mumia, and Huey planted the seed,
for Revolutionary Me.
Being beat by the police at 17,
was the conception of Revolutionary Me.
The unwarranted harassment and checks for id,
strengthened the embryo of Revolutionary Me.
If there were no PG County police,
there might not have been the…

What Can We Do To Begin Unifying?
Peace be unto you reader. Today, I would like to explore some possible ways we can begin healing ourselves and becoming unified as a nation of people inside of a nation. Black Nationalism is still nothing more than an ideology in this day and time, and I feel it is past due for black nationalism to materialize and no longer be just an idea. Just because I support and am for black nationalism, that does not make me a racist. I do not subscribe to the…

Is your life Scattered?
Have you ever wanted to take time off? Not just on your job. Have you ever wanted to take time off from being a Mom, a Wife, a Sibling, a Child, a Rescuer, the Catalyst, the Organizer, ...... what other titles do you hold, for yourself and others? THE ROAD LEST TRAVELED
The shortest distance between two points is a straight line
What we don't plan on
When contemplating the journey
Are the roadblocks that be you/me/us/we.
While we are hard pressed to believe it,
Sometimes the best way to move a mountain

Yet here we are
Stranded in our respective ruts
As we stubbornly continue to walk in circles
around this vertical pinnacle
As though doing today what we did yesterday
Will somehow…

QUIET WHISPERS
In homage to Yvette Cade*
And here I stand.
Quiet whispers silenced
by the desire
to see you as my truth.
messages went unheeded
while I danced to your music.
Problems, warning signs ignored
because the you that I adored
remained my fantasy.
Staying because of what I wanted it to be
not because of what it is.
Embarrassed to admit I might be wrong
Stubbornly believing I could make wrong right
I chose to stay and…
