- Author, writer, and poet Nate Spears is a 29 year old Inspirational Poetry writer from Jacksonville, Florida. Nate Spears realized he had a talent in writing at the age of 8. Nate put his writing future on hold for several years to persue a career in football. After a 20 year absence of any serious writing, Nate now seeks to spread his vision to uplift souls, inspire lives, and change the world through his pen.
Nate Spears attended William M. Raines High School, in Jacksonville, Florida. At William M. Raines High, he played football alongside current NFL players Lito Sheppard (New York Jets) and Jabar Gaffney (Denver Broncos).
In 1997 William M. Raines High boys football team captured the 1997 Florida Class 4A State Football Championship. Nate was a proud member of this team, and to date, the team is the only public high school in Jacksonville to win a state title.
After graduating high school in 1999, Nate went on to attend Edward Waters College from 1999-2001, where he majored in Elementary Education and had a brief football envlovement with their program.
After 2 years at Edward Waters College, Nate left school to join the University of Florida Healthcare Jacksonville & Shands Jax (Commonwealth Family Practice Group) in 2001. Nate currently manges data for over 7,000 patients in northwest Jacksonville, Florida with diabetes, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension for the group. The Commonwealth Family Practice group aIso asisst patients in the community with free medicatioans and healthcare supplies they can't afford due to current economic times. Nate is a proud member of the UF and Shands Commonwealth Family Practice Family.
Nate Spears also serves as a board member on the Jackosonville Urban Dispairity Institue. This group was formed to help reduce health disparities in Jackonville that was identified by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
