What You Need to Know About Me:
Who is a'Kihoro? The name is derived from the Swahili 'a'kiroho' and translates to mean Spiritual. I believe that God gives all of us special talents or “gifts” (Matt. 25:14-30), which when used for His glory become greater than we ever imagined.

In my ministry, I am a desktop publishing consultant assisting authors with manuscript pagination, book covers and publication design, marketing and promotion.

Works in Progress: Currently I publish a monthly online subscription newsletter titled, The Village Griot, and I am working on my second book of poetry.

I have also just completed much of the research for my yet untitled novel --a historical fiction, that will allow the reader to travel back in time from 1960 Baltimore, into New Orleans during the late 1800s and the Rappahannock River in Northern Neck of Virginia, while learning of a deep family secret.

Member: Black Writers' Guild of Maryland, Inc.

THE VILLAGE GRIOT

View the ARCHIVE of my online -by subscription- newsletter. The Village Griot speaks in the spirit of the African storyteller. Each month a new theme introduces articles, essays, poetry and meditative thought from me and contributing writers. Two members of Black Authors Showcase have already contributed to this publication.

Self Publishing with Lulu

One day by chance I mentioned to an instructor where I work at a major university, that I wanted to self publish a book. Other than making a decision on which publisher to use, financing the project was a huge concern. The instructor said, try Lulu. Immediately I went to my browser and typed in Lulu.com.

What I found was a treasure trove of information on self publishing hard and soft cover books of various types and sizes, eBooks, photo books, manuals,… Continue

What IS Important in Relationships?

What I have come to realize after being divorced for many years is my ex-husband and I did not share the same core beliefs. For him, the ideal marriage was keeping a wife "barefoot and pregnant", to use an old phrase. During our relationship before we got married, this deeply embedded conviction, passed down from generations of men in his family, never surfaced. We both way too young to even think about getting married --at least I was, and perhaps that blinded me from recognizing the signs of h… Continue

Daddy... Benjamin Franklin Moore
by Sharon Moore Stenhouse (aka) a’Kihoro

Benjamin Franklin Moore –no, not the wall paint manufacturer; my father, was the kindness, most gentile man I have ever known. People often flocked to be in his presence. He was born, along with his twin brother Joseph, on a tenant’s farm in Abbeville, South Carolina sometime between 1910 and 1920, no one alive knows for sure. Most in the family called him Ben although I can remember he loved when the churchwomen… Continue

Hi Sharon,

Thanks so much for your interest in my books. The first is titled Toward the Light. It's about a troubled young man with a dark side who actually lives a very charmed life. He feels that he has it all together, when in fact it's just the opposite. He meets and falls in love with a beautiful young woman and puts together a plan to keep her close, but still maintain his secret life style. Of course it back fires but he allows the tragedy that follows to change him for the better.

My second book is titled The Prodigal Son and is the sequel to Toward the Light. In the second book a young lady from his past comes back into his life seeking revenge for past hurts that he's inflicted upon her.

If you go to my website you can read excerpts from both of them www.thesavannahjpublications.com My desire is to self publish a second edition of Toward the Light under my own imprint followed by The Prodigal son. I am also working on a third novel and co-authoring a trilogy with a friend.

Thanks again!
