Agility: Going With The Flow. . .

Being Self-Employed: Landing on Your Feet

During the 80s there was a very trite social ideology that dominated the then 'working' world: it was known as "Murphy's Law" and it's creed went something like this: "If something can go wrong it will. . . and if something CAN'T go wrong it will!"

For the past 3 weeks our family has been moving from one state to another. Now that of itself may seem to be a daunting task, which it is, however, we were/are fairly close to the state line (a… Continue

A Requiem For Shiim

I would love to write a requiem for Shimikins,
Sistah Shiim
Only I don't know what a 'requiem' is. . .
I've seen the word used
I don't know what I would write. . .

Perhaps some Music. . .
Music
Bursting with the Joy and Laughter
Sparkle of her beautiful Eyes
and The Mocha color of her skin
the Darkness of her Full and Beauteous African
Lips
which when parted in a smile the White Teeth
Glistened. . .

Music
Music filling the air with a
Power; the Way she walked
with Head Held High
and a Backside that said, "I AM an
Afuraitkaitnit (African Wombman)!" Indeed,
"I Am An African WOMBMAN!"

Some Music for Shimikins
She's transitioned, you know
and I want to write a Requiem
but
I
don't
know
how. . .

Shiim, 7 years my junior, mother of 4, repatriated to Ghana in 1996 -- I had moved to Florida to continue my healing. . . She gave me my first 'healing bag' of Soul Stones: Rose Quartz for the healing of my Heart; Malachite for the healing of my muscle aches and Amber for the Healing of My Soul. How DID she know that I had been collecting 'rocks' all my life. . .

Shiim, so full of passion, determination, talents, skills and gifts! Head strong, demanding and pampered as the youngest of her mother's five children. . . She said I reminded her of her Mom. . . She called me Mama fairly often. . .

Shiim, who came home about 2 years ago to generate funds for the school she had founded near Accra, for the living she was doing in Ghana, the raising of the 2 youngest children. . . The Nation Building that she Practiced.

Shim, who when we last saw each other exclaimed, "You want to walk with Power!" when she looked at the Soul Stone wear I had begun seriously studying and coming to know since the first healing bag she gave me. . . Had I known how weary her soul was I'd have taken it all off and given it to her. . .

Shiim, who was the living embodiment of 'We SHALL overcome! Africa for the Africans, at Home and Abroad!" An 'ole skool' mother that breast fed her children -- till they were ready to be weaned. . .

Shiim, vegetarian, herbalist, vivacious and gentle WombMan!

Gone. Too soon. Too young. Too much to offer. . .

I want to write a Requiem for Shimikins
but I don't know how
Music
Music vibrating with the rhythms of Ancestral
Drums
a Chorus of call and response -- between the
Moon
and the
Sun
the Wind
and the
Ocean
the Rain and
the Heat

All reflecting the Face and Beauty of Shiim.

I want to write a requiem for Shimikins
but I don't know why
Only Shiim would travel BACK to Ghana in
the type of pain she must have been in
to lay her soul to rest
on Mother Africa's Sacred Soil

Perhaps it is not a requiem that should be
written at all
Music
Sweet Music for Shimikins
She went Home to Rest in Peace
Rejoice
Weep
Accept
Question

I want to hear her laughter
no, not a requiem for Shiim
Just an old fashioned love song
For the Way She Lived
and a tune singing
one more hug Sistah
before
you
go.

Just where did my time go. . . .

Just when did 'in a minute' become 3 weeks long. . .

Just how did I slip into absence from my passion. . . .

Just what is it that has taken me off course . . . . Again?

Must be the rent, car note, and my ever ready to be fed belly!

Or could it be the devil's advocate
procrastination. . . .
