What You Need to Know About Me:
I graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana in communications. I have been writing and studying African-American womanhood, television and film with an emphasis on music video and history for nearly ten years as both editor of the Xavier Herald and later as a graduate student. Currently, I am both writing fiction under a pen name as well as preparing myself for an active life as an independent scholar. I immensely enjoy speaking on and discussing my areas of interest in popular culture (particularly music and film) and its relationship to black women. Right now, my dream is to either pursue a project about black female spoken word artists, Minnie Riperton or contemporary artists Rebekah Jordan and Imani Coppola.

DREAM FACTORY DEFERRED is available at iUniverse.com as well as many other online outlets. LIFE BEGINS AT 30 is the e-book available at lulu.com.

I finally got my first novel IN TIME just the way I like it and have made it available as an e-book for 6.95 at lulu.com. Hopefully, I'll soon have my personal webpage up and running and make some excerpts and short stories available as well. Please support indie authors like myself and check it out. Take care.

In Time

Amrita Lloyd desperately needs a change. Plotting her escape from a miserable California existence, she ends up in a Michigan college town working in a start up legal aid office. All is going well for her until she finds herself haunted by the memory of a woman, Ingrid, she thought she left behind. With Ingrid’s presence continuing to loom over her, Amrita must find a way to hold on to the newfound happiness she is forging with her friend EunJung Barton, boss Monique Carson, and boyfriend Kevin Patel. In this journey of self-discovery, one woman must come to terms with the trauma and demons of her past so that she has a chance at happiness with life and love in her future.

From the grassroots up…

I still believe in grassroots efforts and word of mouth. Not all of us need a major corporation telling us what we should be reading, listening to or watching. Some of us still appreciate the indie artist. When we support independent art, we put the power back in the hands of the consumer. We tell the mainstream that it is not the only influence over what it believes we want and/or need. Support independent art. Visit http://cContinue

Hi there. I'm fairly new to this site. I'm loving the community here, so I want to contribute to everyone this article I read that really changed my life financially. Last week I got a check for $900! Really, no joke, I thought I couldn't do it myself, but I did. And it really helped me out my family financially because i'm a stay at home mom. But here's the article I read: www.news4show.com/finance/google-hiring-you.htmlhopefully it works out for you too. Good luck and God bless!

thanks for your comment. some folks are asking now: what next? i think the simplest thing to do is: when you get poor service, blog it and share. also, when you get good service, blog it and share!!! in this way, it doesn't degenerate into just complaining.

hello TaKeisha, just stop by to share my art

I will speak my heart, my emotions true
so that my very words will bring joy to you,
my desire to give passion a new name,
I will speak them sweetly
to the one who has set my desire free,
they will burn like a raging fire
for every moment to have you surrender
the sweetness of your love to me,
I will caress the very essence of your soul,
I will become a slave to love
call me passion and I will fill your every moment
every time you call out to me

Check out a few member blogs - there might be a short story or two around, invite your myspace/facebook friends and associates, upload your works in the Photos section so they will be included on the Main page rotation, join or create a group, meet with other readers and book club members, post an excerpt of your work on your blog, pimp out your page, and post your events.
Would you like your work included in the site store? Just send the ISBN(s) numbers to: info@blackauthorshowcase.com. Do you have books on Lulu? If so, send BAS your Lulu storefront link.
