What You Need to Know About Me:
Would you like a trip to Africa for less than twenty dollars? Or how about one from North Carolina to California for less than fifteen? Or better still, how about a trip to the Old West or to Carl Sandburg’s Chicago for only twelve dollars?

Then you’ll want to read books by award-winning author Sharon Ewell (rhymes with Jewel) Foster, a Durham resident with an international literary reputation. Whether she transports you through history and time or location, Sharon Ewell Foster’s books are favorites of reviewers, book clubs, and a fixture in libraries.

She writes in the tradition of authors like Ernest Gaines (A Lesson Before Dying) and Harper Lee (To Kill a Mockingbird). Three of Sharon’s novels, that draw readers into adventures in unusual and remarkable places, have earned starred reviews from American Library Associations’s BookList Reviews, Library Journal, and Historical Novel Reviews. Two of her novels have been the focus of NAACP National Essay Scholarship Competitions, while her first novel, Passing by Samaria, was the NAACP Book of the Year in 2000.

If you are looking for a book that will speak to your family's past, especially to the Indians in your family, then you will love her seventh and latest novel, Abraham's Well, winner of the Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award for Best Inspirational.

Her books appeal to young readers as well as adults and she has taught workshops for writers and students in the Dallas Independent School District, in Chicago Public Schools, and now she has made herself available to her home community as a CAPS artist. She is dedicated to literacy and to helping students improve their reading, writing, and self-esteem by helping them discover their own literary adventures.

Sharon also writes for Daily Guideposts and is a contributor to Tavis Smiley's "Keeping the Faith", to the "Proverbs for the People" anthology, and to the Women of Color Devotional Bible.

Bishop T.D. Jakes has said of her, “Sharon writes for those of us who want more than just words on a page, but pictures painted on the canvasses of our minds. She has proven to be 'the Picasso of the pen!"

If you're looking for a writing coach, Sharon likes to share her gifts by helping others bring their writing dreams to life, as well as promoting the work of other authors like Stacy Hawkins Adams, Jacquelin Thomas, and Angela Benson at www.authorsofdistinction.com

Hello Sharon,
I am pleased and blessed that you have that you have requested to become one of my friends.

I have been remisss in following up on checking my mail. Actually, I allowed myself to become overwhelmed.

I am looking forward to reading some of your books. Having "Retired/become disabled" I feel that reading and writing are two of my perks.

Take care and may God continue to bless you.

You are so right, Lily. In fact, what we often consider trash in our lives is the rubble where we find our most precious treasure.

Thanks so much Sharon! It's good to know that the story of your life-be it painful, be it full of hurt, is not in vain when others can truly relate. God gives us all a testimony to share-so that He gets all the glory! Thanks for connecting with me. It is my hope that we get the chance to meet one day. You are indeed an inspiration.
Be blessed!

SPAM IS SO NOT COOL!

Please do not greet everyone on the site with large images and announcements of your book or business. Yes, you want to tell the world, but learn the fine art of subtlety. A simple welcome and signature/link is fine. Let them ask you for more.
We have lost numerous members because of the amount of 'friend' mail they instantly receive. This Hurts Everyone.
