- I’ve been a government- sponsored creative writing instructor nearing six years. When I’m not teaching the craft, I’m studying for my MA in communications, and creating my next piece of fiction. My latest novel is PUSH COMES TO SHOVE ( Voices Books & Publishing, August 22, 2008). I’m the chief copyeditor for Docuversion, a full-service book editing firm, and I’m a regular article contributor to Voices Magazine.

Push Comes To Shove

The bills are due again for Greg "GP" Patterson...but this time they won't get paid. He and his Latina wife face robbery charges when simple assault goes bad. Their quarrelsome children are sent away to a group home—the one where GP was abused as a child. After a few days in jail, the Pattersons lose everything.
Aunty Jewels is a hardcore, hustling lesbian who enjoys to administer pain. Once she bails the Pattersons out, GP must make some serious moves if he is to provide decent shelter for his family again. A visit to Squeeze, who is a villainous loan shark, will lead to killer interest rates and a murderous default penalty. When GP gives Jewels the loan money to flip in a high-stakes credit card scheme, she gets robbed for it all. GP has to figure out how to pay his debt and gain the respect of his family again; Jewels has already figured out how to make everybody pay.
