If you are in the Washington, DC area on September 25th, please come out to the Congressional Black Caucus to see my poetry performance. As a little girl, I suffered a tremendous tragedy
I was ten years old when my mother was taken away from me
Who would have known she would leave so soon—a heart attack
And no amount of tears could ever bring her back
So to cover my pain, I put pen to paper
Constantly asking God, why did He have to take her?
