Booksigning Tips

Twenty years ago it was difficult, if not impossible, to get a book signing at a major bookstore chain or library, if you weren’t a well-known author from a traditional publishing house. To be an author, especially one of high esteem, was looked upon as a prestigious accomplishment and deserving of special attention. Weeks ahead of a book signing, bookstore staff prepared for the event by advertising in major newspapers, community papers and putting posters in the store and around the community.… Continue

Wake up America- The Game is now Dirty Politics

Even though I have always voted in all the state and national elections, I slept through the political process of elections. I discovered I was not alone and there are many who are still in the dream state. It is not until this presidential election that I woke up. I credit my new awareness of politics to my daughter. We had many political discussions about the presidential campaign. Then I read Senator Obama’s books and listened to several of his speeches. They all resonated with my own sentime… Continue

Why I write spirituality & paranormal fiction

My purpose for writing spirituality and paranormal fiction is to show that those who are intuitives are ordinary people with the gift of sensing, seeing, hearing, and feeling beyond normal capacity. I purposely interweaved spiritual and Christianity principles and laws throughout the book to demonstrate how these laws have many similarities. I was recently asked who was my favorite character. My characters are like friends to me. The most interesting one to create was Margaret. She is unique. Yo… Continue

Hi James,
I did the Baltimore Book Festival last year and sold a lot of books. The crowd was very diverse but everyone was buying. I hope to do it again this year. I have an event on the May 9th date for the PG event. However, I am trying to change the date.

Take care,
JJ

The book signing in Baltimore was a bust!

I didn't sell any books, and from the looks of things, neither did most of the other authors. Those who were in charge of the advertising really dropped the ball. I don't know if I'll do another one with them.

However, I do plan to register for the Baltimore Book Festival. It will be my first time there. I missed it last year because I didn't know about it, and I was doing a book signing at Karibu.

Take care,

James

Thanks JJ,

You were very helpful for me at the book signing. It was great sharing a table with you. I am registered for the next two Afrocentric Book Expos at the Mall at Prince Georges.

Take care,

James

Hi JJ,

Thanks so much for the information and congratulations on your book.

I love the beauty of Arizona. I have always loved the peace and tranquility of the mountains. When I lived in Maryland, I would drive to the Blue Ridge Mountains on the weekends and just enjoy the scenic view. I am now surrounded by the Superstition Mountains and I love it. I have not yet had an opportunity to visit Sedona; however, I hear that it is absolutely beautiful. I have plans to visit soon.

Let's keep in touch. I visit Maryland every year. Hopefully we'll have an opportunity to maybe meet for tea during my visit later this year.

Make every day a great day!

Hey JJ,

You left a message for Diane in my box, I am Wanda, we met Saturday at the Expo. You provided me with so much great info for my sistah, who is the author. I just wanted to make sure that Diane received your comments. Peace and continued blessings...

Hey J.J.!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your support and encouragement. I met Diane Williams and she is awesome, I also had my sistah, who is the author, to speak to Diane. I feel sooo good right now...I have tried to be the supportive one for my sistah on this journey, but it can be a little scary. However, when God/Universe send a guiding light to show us the way, I am so thankful and grateful. Again, I am happy to have met you and look forward to seeing you again.

I would chat longer, but I have to go purchase my book, "It's Not Over Yet" by J.J. Michael :). Talk to you soon.....
