The Rationalization behind Racializing Reading
I came across this article, Reading Too Much Into Race, written in the Washington Post thanks to Bernice McFadden’s Facebook page. The article basically talks about December being National Buy a Book by a Black Author and Give It to Somebody Not Black Month and why this holiday is necessary for African American authors. Essentially it comes down to African American authors not being marketable to mainstream audiences.
