If Bookstores Aren't Purchasing New Books in 2009, how will you sell your book?

In order for some bookstores to say in the black, they are opting to sell used and older books and relaxing on purchasing new books in early 2009. What will this mean for authors who have books coming out in early 2009?

I recommend you talk with your publisher about assisting you with hosting book events. If you don't know I am an Atlanta satellite for Mocha Readers books, an Essence Magazine reporting bookseller. I can assist you and… Continue

Dee, thanks for the add. I'm so sorry Mr. Pratt is making this personal by dragging others into it. If it were really libel, he'd sue! But oh I forgot, he doesn't have the money for a retainer!!! Anyone who would steal $99 from someone has got to be broke, which is why I never asked for my money back. LOL. It's not the money, it's the principle.

Thanks all for the nice comments. I don't get around here often. This week I am covering the Democratic National Convention and blogging about the Faith and Fiction Retreat at www.Savvy-Sista.com. Follow me on www.twitter.com/deegospel to really keep up with me. I'm everywhere and nowhere some days. :)

dee, thanks so much for your thoughtful response. i appreciate your constructive criticism. i do agree that i need to do a lot more to market and promote my book. however, as a busy professional who volunteers at several organizations, works full time, sits on five committees, belongs to four professional groups, and is a SINGLE PARENT (the biggest challenge of them all), I had to delegate a lot of the marketing responsibility. I wish I had known about your services first! Yet, I did not, and those who were involved with Kulturefirst had no clue that it was a scam. In hindsight, I realize that none of us followed up and asked for references. We should have! I will definitely look into working with you, but I am now asking for several references from authors who have used your services (something I did not do with Kulturefirst). Thanks so much for your words of wisdom!
