Have You "Freed Your Inner Book" Yet?
Yes
What You Need to Know About Me:
I write fantasy novels and stories in African-derived settings. The genre I work in is sometimes called "sword-and-sorcery." I call my own variation of it "sword-and-soul." The novels for which I am best-known are about an iconic black hero named Imaro. I also have a novel out about an African Amazon named Dossouye. For more than 30 years, I've experienced both the pleasure and pain of getting published, and not getting published. And I intend to keep going as long as I can.

MWINDO

The mythologies created by the peoples who have dwelt for countless millennia in Africa are as sweeping and compelling as those of any culture in the world, including the ancient Greeks, Romans and Norse. They are also astonishingly diverse, as to be expected from a continent in which more than 700 languages are spoken.

Among students of African folklore and mythology, the epic tale of Mwindo, told by the Nyanga (sometimes called Banyanga) people of the Democratic Republic of Congo, formerly Za… Continue

EXCERPT FROM IMARO: THE TRAIL OF BOHU

“Imaro? Would you like me to start the bellows now?”

Akhini asked his question in a diffident tone. Imaro seemed unaccountably distracted this day; the rectangular bar of blade-iron had lain unheated on Imaro’s anvil for far too long.

Looking down into the golden eyes of the Cushite youth, Imaro made an almost visible effort to cast off the unease that had affected him all morning. His foreboding was not focused on anything specific. It was vague, like the subtle warnings of danger he had some… Continue

IMARO: THE TRAIL OF BOHU IS NOW AVAILABLE

The message is clear: you can’t keep an Ilyassai down. Imaro is back, bigger and badder than ever. The third volume of his larger-than-life adventures – “Imaro: The Trail of Bohu” – is now available at www.lulu.com.

I have two people to thank for helping me to keep Imaro in print after the setback the series suffered in 2007. The first is Brother Uraeus, who started the publishing company, Sword & Soul Media, that will be bringing out Imaro’s fourth and fifth volumes later this year. Also f… Continue

MY LIFE AS A WRITER

This literary biography first appeared on my blog at the Black Science Fiction Society. I’m running it here because it might be of interest to this group, too.

I can divide my life as a writer into six stages, stretching over a period of close to 40 years.

STAGE ONE
During the 1970s, I wrote short stories for small-press magazines put out by fans of the science fiction and fantasy genres. Those genres always fascinated me, and there is something about them that causes an inordinate proportion… Continue

Great News!!!
A message from keith arnold to all of his friends, please forward this to all your friends!

Thank you to all of my friends who have supported me, and who will support me in the future by purchasing a copy of my book. I have great news, I have re-created a copy of my book so that most of you who couldn't afford to purchase it at the $19 price may be able to purchase it at the new price of $12. Please note that 10% of the proceeds that I receive from my book goes toward the American Cancer Society(my grandfather died from prostate cancer), and also the American heart association(my grandmother died from a massive heart attack). So, on behalf of Myself, the Kingdom of God, my grandmother, and my grandfather, thank you very much for your support! May God continue to bless each and everyone of you. Please click on the link below to purchase or preview my book. Love you to Life!!!!

You're welcome, it's an honor to meet you. I have Dark Matter around here. I went to two readings when the book first came out. One of my good friends also contributed, but I have to confess I haven't read it yet! I'll look for it this week.
