Shawnee Library, Western Branch Library, Louisville, KY--the nation's first African-American established and African-American library in the nation on Chestnut Street one block from historic Quinn Chapel AME Church where Dr. Martin Luther King, JR began the Louisville, KY demonstrations and boycotts in the city in 1961

Have You "Freed Your Inner Book" Yet?
Yes
What You Need to Know About Me:
I AM THE YOUNGEST African-American in the state of KY who marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, JR in 1961 at age 13 yrs who went to jail repeatedly for EVERYBODY'S RIGHTS who has NEVER moved away from my native city, Louisville, KY, the 16th largest city in the nation and home to Louisville's own "Good Morning America's" Diane Sawyer. My cousins the Keesee's in Nashville, TN are best friends with Oprah Winfrey's father, Vernon. I have agreed to publish someone else's story who lives in Atlanta. Now I get to pick out which Hampton Hotel in Chicago for me to stay. My life is being made into a movie by Jerry Bruckheimer who produces CSI and has won an Oscar before. Due to the small amount of money offered by an actor who lives in Mississippi, I was unable to reach any agreeable terms. My Caucasian Great-great grandfather, Dr. John C. Whitlock served in the state legislature in KY and knew Abraham Lincoln very well even though Dr. John owned my slave great-great grandmother. He had to release her in 1865 after his bi-racial son, John Whitlock was born. Plain John Whitlock was my late grandfather's father. My late grandfather, Charles D. Whitlock was the 1st African-American florist in the state of KY whose first business sign was painted by Muhammad Ali's father, an artist and sign painter. I met Marcia during a book signing in Long Island, NY after I had been asked by William Rhoden, author of "The Forty Million Dollar Slaves" if he could buy a copy of my book, "Whitlock's Compositions". I was sent a letter from the NY Times asking me to purchase their subscription. I have. My mayor has an extremely close friendship with his high school friend, Diane Sawyer. Look for me on GMA soon.

Your story is very interesting. I would like to know more about your book and other writings you have produced. And, any information you might have about book fairs and festivals that can be of benefit to me and other black writers. Keep up the good work and continue to fight the good fight.

Wow, you certainly have a lot going on, Charlene. Please be sure to get a good entertainment lawyer for your movie contracts and other rights. Welcome to the community.

Advice on Exploring Erotica in Your Writing

MediaBistro's Morning Media Menu had a conversation with author Jamie Brenner about advice for writers looking to explore this newly crowded genre. An excerpt from Brenner: My first erotic novel came out two years ago. The landscape feels completely different. There is not just the hope to reach a mainstream audience with erotic novel, but the expectation that success is reaching everyone, not just the genre readers. Fifty Shades of Grey really raised the bar for that. At the same time, working…See More
