Borders Bookstore?

Okay, so I was walking through a local Borders Bookstore when I noticed that they had POD, Independent, and self-published novels on its shelves. So I inquired as to how I can get my novel on their shelves and the manager gave me a number. I called the number and was told to submit a copy of my novel, along with some other info, which I did. So now I'm waiting to hear whether they approve of my novel. I'd LOVE to see it stocked on a store shelf!

Getting Positive Feedback

Well, well, well... I'm slowly but surely getting some feedback from people reading my novel and it's all been GOOD! This makes me feel pretty good because I've been worried that maybe folks weren't really into it. Even a former producer of the cable t.v. show Forensic Files says that she's really enjoying reading it! I'm also backlogged on orders of autographed copies so I guess people are reading it. All in all, good news.

Radio Interview a BUST!

Hi all,

I stated the same thing in a discussion, but I figured i might as well post it as a blog too:

Well, I was all ready for the radio interview. I did all the things that I was asked to do by represetatives of the b.r. burns show... I sent them my bio, I emailed and told all of my friends, family, and associates to tune in, I even bought a new telephone because my old one is a cordless model and can sometimes be unreliable. I psyched myself up, did some additional research on the… Continue

The interview, future reviews, the Chickenhawk Ninja...

Hi:

On Friday, March 21st, 2008, two things happened that I hope will positively impact my budding career as a novelist. First, that was the official release date of my novel, Chickenhawk. Now, hopefully, it will become more widely available, as in being in stores, etc., instead of just online. I hope this way more people will become aware of it and so become interested in it.

The other thing is that the Queens Tribune did a profile about me and my novel that also came out that… Continue

Reading it...

Well, the reports are in from the first few people who have read or are reading my novel. For the most part it's pretty good-- the characters are said to be interesting and true to their personalities, the story moves along, although there are some rough spots, and the reader's reactions to certain parts are just what I was looking for. On the other hand, everyone agrees that it could have used some more stringent editing, a flashback near the beginning of the novel could have been more clearly… Continue

Hi Arnold :

This is just a heads up - A new company is starting in 2009.  It will publish novels for women over 40.  In other words, the main character has to be a female, over 40 years of age. She does not have to be black.   The writer's gender and age is not an issue.  All genres welcome:  general, mystery, romance,  historical, etc.  Write to Brenda Frazier for more information. Her email address is: writingtimes@aol.com

All best,
Anita

Way to go, Arnold... Reading your comments reminds me of the feeling when my first book was published. Everything from receiving the author copies to rolling around to the "official" release date. I wish you much success.

Be well,
William

Advice on Exploring Erotica in Your Writing

MediaBistro's Morning Media Menu had a conversation with author Jamie Brenner about advice for writers looking to explore this newly crowded genre. An excerpt from Brenner: My first erotic novel came out two years ago. The landscape feels completely different. There is not just the hope to reach a mainstream audience with erotic novel, but the expectation that success is reaching everyone, not just the genre readers. Fifty Shades of Grey really raised the bar for that. At the same time, working…See More
