In the ancient world, a long list of deities have died and was miraculously resurrected from the dead. Even Julius Caesar supposedly died a martyr's death, and was resurrected as Divus Iulius (Divine Julius) after his murder…

Hello Alberta,
Nice to meet you. Do you have poetry related to jazz or music? My upcoming book will feature my jazz paintings with related poetry.....thought I'd check to see what you have in that genre.
Thanks for your time.

Living in a country that is threatened by black self-expression
No wonder the powers that be work overtime to silence influential voices
New black writers are forever struggling to make it in the game
And some have been trying for years to make a name
In an industry where legitimate national and international bestselling black authors come far and few between
Some black children can't tell you about two books written by bestselling authors, but they can spit rap lyrics that are filthily obscene
Gangsta rap gets greater marketing on radio and TV than any other form of black music
I listen to hip-hop, but can we also listen to lyrics about subjects other than bling-bling
And sneakers
And white T's
And screwin' a bunch of hoes
What significance does all this really have
The hip-hop community has the power to start a revolution
But within its ranks, there's too much violence and confusion
Rappers tossin' threatening lyrics back and forth at each other
While-in ghetto neighborhoods-dead bodies keep piling up one after the other
And black children keep catching cases one after the other
Like the late Tupac sang: "It's time to make some changes..."
It is high time the black community does some rearranging
Before Tupac was gunned down in '96, he nearly began a revolution
And if it wasn't for that East Coast vs. West Coast bullshit
He might still be alive right now making more hits
After him, every effort was made to silence influential new black voices in music and literature
But they could never silence our voices
And our writing and music grew stronger
They never understood that our writing doesn't just come from the mind
It originates from our soul
This is why I wanna see more black fiction expanded beyond urban crime, romance, and drama
I wanna write and read fiction where black characters are not heavily underrated
I wanna see more black fiction turned into film
And less character assassination of black people in films
