I am going to plug my address book into 'urban fiction'. Most are avid readers and would appreciate a heads-up about emerging Black writers. They've been very supportive of my efforts.
Love. Run-outta-ink!

“You Too Cool”
Standing on the corner chillin,
Got the whole block sewed up,
Solders ready and willin.
Cadilae all sweet and pretty,
Your hands manicured, never gritty.
Homeboys checkin in by the hour,
Makin them dollars aint never been sour.
Three honeys waiting on the east side,
Two layin low in yo ride.
It’s all good,
Straight runnin the hood.
You aint no fool,
Naw , you too cool.

You got game by the pound,
Drama jumps off wherever you’re found.
From Keys to O-Z’s,
You beat all others fees,
The whole city is on drugs,
But to that fact all you’ve got are shoulder shrugs.
The hardest of the hard,
No one can pull your card.
Big betty, Eight months with child,
She owed you 20 bucks so you beat her wild!
You “gots” to get paid,
All shorts you can’t fade.
You aint no Fool,
Naw, you too cool.

You cant read or write,
But you sho can fight!
One thing you know is yo money,
But for some reason it’s always funny.
Been in and out of jail,
But you shake it off, what the hell!
Drugs are killing your city,
But you don’t care, your motto is: aint that a pity.
Yeah , you down by law,
You aint got a flaw,
You aint no fool,
Naw , you way too cool

Attend a literary conference that is affordable and worth it!

Authors how important is it to attend a conference and not have to pay several hundred dollars to sale your books? How nice would it be to have a video interview promoted and spread across the web? How important is it to be able to gain an author table for only twenty five dollars for two days? Well events like that do exist.
The 2009 AAMBC National Meeting is coming June 13-14 2009. Get connected with many book lovers as it will host panel discussions, book lovers breakfast, radio interviews, neo soul poetry night, work shops, book signings for several hours per day, and so much more. It’s time to be able to promote your self at an affordable cost with a great crowd, people from all over the nation, and so much more. This event will cater to your need for exposure and the need to gain connections. Registration is only 100 for the entire event lasting all day long. But spots are limited for author tables. Do not miss out on an opportunity to connect in the city of San Antonio, Texas, a city of over 1.2 million people.

Visit www.aambcnationalmeeting.blogspot.com and register today.

Readers and book clubs we did not leave you out either. The event is open to the public but you must be a registered guest to attend the dinners and book lover’s breakfast. Meet over fifty black authors, publisher, publicist, and literary leaders. Buy affordable books and best part is you can mingle with them for an entire weekend. Do not miss out on your opportunity to get connected. Book clubs of six or more can register at a book club rate, author tour groups can also register at a discounted rate.

The 2009 AAMBC National Meeting will be held at the Radisson Hotel, downtown near the beautiful and historical river walk. For questions email us at events@aambookclub.com

See you this summer and get connected.

I wanted to include a few paragraphs of a novel I started over 4 years ago but lost the confidence to finish it. I hope this is the right spot to most it. It is untitled at the moment but the chapters are titled so I will start with some of chapter one. I am open to any and all feedback. Thanks

Chapter One Midnight Drama

J'ahnea was suddenly awoke from her deep sleep by her cell phone blasting the song lyrics "I'll be your naughty girl, calling all the girls, gonna turn this party oouuuttt, I know you want my body" by Beyonce' in her ear. She grumbled and groaned before rolling over and snatching the cell phone off the nightstand, while glancing at the clock that read 2:15am. She groaned again and quickly looked at the caller ID on her cell phone flashing "DeeDee". She flipped open the cell and with much attitude said, "What do you want?"

"What's with the attitude?" Dee Dee snapped back, although she already knew how cranky J'ahnea was when she's woke up.

"I's 2:15 in the morning! You know not to mess with me, now get to your point and it better be good ho!" J'ahnea answered with her eyes still closed trying not to fully wake up.

"Anyway, I need you to get dressed and roll with me, I think Braun got some trick at his house and I want to go and find out." Dee Dee sounded real worried.

"What makes you think that? Did some chick answer the phone or something?" J'ahnea asked, really not looking forward to getting out of bed and going out into the cold.

"No, just the way he was being on the phone, look I'll tell you all about it when I pick you up now get up, I'm coming to get you, I'm not going by myself!" Dee Dee insisted. J'ahnea took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She had just been able to finally go to sleep an hour and a half ago and she was beyond tired, but she knew the Dee Dee would do it for her. "Okay, okay, I'm getting up. When are you leaving? I need at least ten minutes." J'ahnea said yawning.

"Girl I'm already parked out front! I don't have time to waste." Dee Dee smirked to herself. She was 100% confident that her girl would roll with her. They had been best friends since middle school and have been inseperable since.

"What! Girl you really get on my nerves sometimes. Who the hell said I was gonna go? Do you want to come in while I get dressed it's cold out?" J'ahnea laughed at her friends boldness, but still not quite ready to get out of bed.

"I love you too, and no I don't want to come in. I'm waiting in the car for you so you will hurry up! Make that five minutes not ten J'ahnea." Dee Dee was really starting to sound rushed.

"Alright, Alright, stop whining all the time. I'll be right down." J'ahnea stretched one long hard time and slowly dragged herself from her warm cozy bed and into the bathroom. She looked at her reflection in the mirror. Her eyes were dark and puffy from lack of sleep, and her hair was all over the place. "Dag, I really look like shit and I have got to remember to wrap my hair at night." J'ahnea said out loud to herself. She grabbed her toothbrush and very quickly and hastily brushed her teeth and then washed her face in cold water. Next she grabbed her water bottle and gave her unruly hair three mists of water, dabbed a little Smooth N Shine gel in her palms and smoothed it along the edges of her hair. She reached for her brush and quickly brushed her hair up into a tight, neat ponytail. Running back into her room she ran into her walk-in closet, grapped a grey valor Prada warm up suit and a pair of crisp white Air Force One's. She grabbed her black Prada bubble jacket with the rabbit fur trim, her Gucci tote bag, made sure she had her cell phone and house keys and flew out of the door. On the way down in the elevator J'ahnea dabbed some watermelon lip-gloss on her lips. She was downstairs in record time. Dee Dee was royally shocked when she saw J'ahnea walking out of her building in exactly 6minutes. The girl was never on time.

J'ahnea opened the passenger side door to Dee Dee's pimped out, all black Acura Legend Coup, with the limo tinted windows, and 18" Spreewell's on her tires, plopped down in the seat, simultaneously reaching for her seatbelt. She noticed Dee Dee looking at her all crazy. "What the fuck you looking at me like you aint never seen me before or some shit?" J'ahnea barked, still a little grumpy.

"Bitch it must be a full moon tonight because little miss J'ahnea Monaye Howard, has never, I mean never, done anything, let alone get dressed, in five minutes. I have officially been shocked!" Dee Dee said in pure shock.

"Well don't get all excited because the only reason I was so quick is because I am tired as hell and didn't feel like coming. So I looked at it as the quicker I hurry up and get out here, the quicker I can bring my ass back home and get in my warm bed. And to let you know, once I get home I am going to bed and I'm not getting up until I am completely refreshed. I'm turning off my phone, so don't call me, I'll call you." J'ahnea was holding her hands in front of the vents trying to warm up.

"Damn, you been snapping on me every since I called. I know your a little grumpy when you wake up, but not this damn grumpy. What got your panties all in a bunch?" Dee Dee asked, hoping J'ahnea wouldn't be like that the whole time because she really needed some sisterly support.

"Yes I am THAT tired. I had a long day and I had just fell asleep an hour and a half before you called and dragged me out here in the cold. And for your information, I am not grumpy when I wake up. I am only grumpy when people WAKE me up out of my sleep! Now get to why you need me and what exactly are we going to do?" J'ahnea asked, wishing Dee Dee would stop sweating her and get on with her issues at hand.

Ok I guess I will stop there. I don't know if that was too long to post here. I can provide more for those that would like to find out what happens when they post up outside of Braun's house.

thanks for reading

Yep, the power of "facts" on the internet. Ain't it grand? People take forwards as gospel. Do you all also believe that Barack Obama shouldn't be president because he's not an American citizen? It' says he's not on the internet! I kinda wanted this…
