Agents of Literary Change

Ahh... what a wonderful day! First, I'd like to say that God is good and whoever says that He is not good is definitely lost. Secondly, I want to let you all know that I finally have a J-O-B! Whew! It is truly about time because I have been looking for a job for a minute now. I am supposed to be getting a call from another place of business but they have not called me back just yet.

As much as I want another job so I can pay my bills among other things, the only thing I can do now is pray. That's it. I can't sit and whine about something that I do not have because I look at it like this. There are a lot of people who are in worse situations than I am. Hence, I give God the glory everyday because without Him, nothing and I do mean "NOTHING" is possible. I am staying w/ my best friend and roommate, Ms. C. She's very sweet and hard-working. I think she and I are similar in a lot of ways because we are both hard-working, decent, kind young ladies who believe that anything worth having is worth working hard for. However, we are different in certain ways, as well.

For instance, she is more intense than I am. For example, she worries about things that is not in her control and sometimes I tell her that she cannot worry about things that are out of her reach, but that is how she is at times. Me, personally, I worry about certain things, too, but I also realize that only God can take care of my dilemmas, not me. Besides, the way I look at it, why lose your hair and health over something that is not meant to be in the first place?

Other than that, everything is great. I started my job as a poetry teacher today. I love my class. They are truly sweet, hyper little bugaloos! LOL! My day was truly good. I did not get a chance to teach the class poetry, but the class did get a chance to play games like double dutch and kick ball and other games that kept them occupied for the day. One of the students asked me if I could do her nails. I said yes so not only did I polish her nails, but I polished a few other girls' nails, as well. The boys just sat their tables giving the girls funny looks and stuff. I just laughed just because.

Tomorrow, I will teach the class poetry, such as, the meaning of poetry, metaphors, assonance, and other things that will keep their minds occupied, so wish me luck on this. LOL! Well, I have to go. Be good and stayed blessed. -Dana

Advice on Exploring Erotica in Your Writing

MediaBistro's Morning Media Menu had a conversation with author Jamie Brenner about advice for writers looking to explore this newly crowded genre. An excerpt from Brenner: My first erotic novel came out two years ago. The landscape feels completely different. There is not just the hope to reach a mainstream audience with erotic novel, but the expectation that success is reaching everyone, not just the genre readers. Fifty Shades of Grey really raised the bar for that. At the same time, working…See More
