The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose
Author: Nakia R. Laushaul

Nakia Laushaul poetically gathers the myths and misconceptions about life that threaten to hold the heart captive into her first bound collection titled: The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose. She expresses her views of The Truth about Me and You, Love, God, and Life in powerful poems that make the truth look painfully simple and prose that tenderly draws you into the world as she sees it.

The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose beautifully fuses together and creates light after tackling difficult and often times taboo topics. Out of pain and anger comes healing. Out of despair and disappointment comes hope. Out of the darkness of lies shines the truth.

About the Author
Nakia R. Laushaul was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and now resides in Houston, Texas with her son. She is a poet, novelist, and entrepreneur. In her free time, she enjoys performing and listening to inspirational poetry. Nakia has always loved to read and early on in life guessed that writing would play a major role in her future. Nakia’s career pursuits in writing did not come without obstacles.

Finally, all the bottled-up imagination and thoughts that needed expressing, on paper, came pouring out. Inspired and fueled by attempts to be molded into the norm, she began to write her debut collection titled The Truth As I See It: In Poetry & Prose. Nakia remains determined to present the truth as she sees it in all facets of her writing, and hopes that her writing will inspire and serve a meaningful purpose for her readers.

She is committed to challenging everyone within her reach to find compassion and empathy in the differences that exist among us all. She is currently working on a novel, titled Running from Solace.

The 2011 International Urban Book Festival, Cleveland comes to Richmond Town Square Mall, May 13 - 15, 2011. Throughout the mall will be local television, government and sports personalities reading for 30 minutes to a group of children or students. Authors will also sell and sign their books and novels and there will be several no cost literary workshops, classes and panel discussions open to the general public. We will identify 50 Cleveland area schools whose students may have financial challenges. Also, we will through our subsidiary R2Books, donate 20 gift certificates to each school, these can then be brought to our event and redeemed for a new book. We welcome other corporations to match our gift and help us give 10,000 books annually to deserving students across the United States. Tell everyone about us by sending them to our website: www.IUBFCleveland.info

Good Day Authors,

Looking to sell more books? The Author Collective has just organized two new book festivals which are certain to help!  The 2011 Michigan Spring Book Festival happens April 15th through the 17th at Laurel Park Place Mall in Livonia, Michigan and The International Urban Book festival, Cleveland takes place May 13th through 15th at the Richmond Town Square Mall in Richmond Heights, Ohio. We have rented the entire mall for these festivals and expect to have lots of book lovers and book buyers in attendance.

There will be workshops, seminars, panel discussions, classes and lectures on many topics in the field of literature. These learning sessions will be free of charge to public and will provide insight on writing, publishing and marketing books. We will be sending invitations to patrons from the Detroit and Cleveland area school systems & libraries. R2Books and other sponsors will donate 1,000 book certificates to deserving students in each of the two cities. These certificates are good for one free book and must be redeemed at the festival. Many of the student with free book certificates and their parents, will look to purchase additional books and meet the authors in attendance.

Do you love selling at book festivals but hate the rain, cold and the wind that almost always happen during an outdoor event?  Join us for our indoor festivals which will span the entire common area of these shopping malls. Interact with the more than 10,000 shoppers who visit these malls everyday. Author applications are now available on our websites.  Click the links below or call me to reserve your table today!

Look to see you there.

Greetings Fellow Authors,

Join us November 5th thru 7th at the Northland Shopping Mall in Southfield, Michigan for the International Urban Book Festival, Detroit. A great place to sell books and teach young people the importance of reading. We have rented the entire shopping mall to get our message across to the young at risk generation. Reading is essential! Let's all encourage our youth to read at least two books per week. Let's encourage parents to make this a family mandate.

Meet and network with celebrity authors, purchasing agents from schools, libraries and major corporations plus other members of the literary community. We will hold literary workshops, panel discussions, lectures, seminars and classes on self publishing. We have 200 author tables now available, but they are certain to sell out quickly. The cost for the three day weekend is only $225. Author tables are 2' by 4' skirted with two chairs. Out of state attendees may receive discounts on hotel rooms by logging onto our website after September 2, 2010.

This is certain to be a fun filled event. Don't miss it.

Call us at (313) 446-2262 or log onto www.iubf.net Facebook

Advice on Exploring Erotica in Your Writing

MediaBistro's Morning Media Menu had a conversation with author Jamie Brenner about advice for writers looking to explore this newly crowded genre. An excerpt from Brenner: My first erotic novel came out two years ago. The landscape feels completely different. There is not just the hope to reach a mainstream audience with erotic novel, but the expectation that success is reaching everyone, not just the genre readers. Fifty Shades of Grey really raised the bar for that. At the same time, working…See More
