Hachette Book Group USA (HBG), a division of Hachette Livre, seeks to fill the position of Publicity Assistant. The assistant will support senior level publicists at Grand Central Publishing, which publishes approximately 100 general fiction, mystery, science fiction, spiritual, self-help, and romance titles annually.
• The assistant will serve as a liaison between Grand Central Publishing and all types of media and bookstores and will communicate with high profile authors and literary agents.
• Performing general administrative work including answering telephones, photocopying, faxing, filing, distributing in-house materials and maintaining publicity databases.
• Drafting press releases, creating press kits, organizing author tours and events and conducting appropriate follow-up
• Maintaining & updating our database of web & digital media contacts.
• Prior publishing and/or publicity experience is strongly preferred.
• Superb verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of the media are paramount.
• Excellent computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word and Excel, the ability to multi-task and attend to details in a fast-paced environment are also essential. Internet savvy also a plus.
• Experience and/or interest in book publishing are essential.
• College degree preferred.
