DON’T GIVE UP ON OUR CHILDREN OR OURSELVES
by: David W. Johnson, Jr.

Day in and day out America is obviously pulling away from us
They use every trick they can to take our homes and our lives
We just kill, rob, sell drugs and in one another show no trust
Older men, start teaching young men about husbands and wives

Just what good are adults if we cannot teach children lessons
The lazy good for nothing in us is being instilled in our children
If our young daughters become pregnant, insist on abortions
Parents and adults are no longer someone children can depend

Time to get our young children off “You-Tube” and “My-Space”
Adults, we had better start using the “Web” to learn some real truth
Children can obviously see we are loosing the African-American Race
Face it; it is not our children but adults who are completely uncouth

Instead of saying. “I don’t know what’s wrong with children today”
When our children kill, rob, rape or sell drugs we quickly blame them
Time we face reality, “We are what’s wrong with our children today”
For our mistakes adults, our children we cannot continue to condemn

Fathers, find organizations in your communities that are helping children
Mothers, stop trying to become your daughter friend by hanging in bars
Children today, like yesterday, need you to be more parents than friends
Teach your daughters there are more to men than drugs and fancy cars

Parents are being lazy in everything from too much weight to not cooking
Fast food restaurants are getting super-rich from the laziness in inner-cities
Our neighborhoods are deteriorating and all we do is stand around looking
We have no clue about political organization, committees or sub-committees

Frequent use of the “N-Word” is proof enough that we don’t care anymore
Other races are constantly saying, “Blacks do not care about us or themselves”
The devastation within our African-American Communities cannot be ignored
My Brothers and Sisters, “Do Not Give Up On Our Children Or Ourselves”

…Children Need Us…We Need One Another…

CRUSHING THE LIFE OUT OF THEIR FUTURE
by: David W. Johnson, Jr.

January 01, 2008, 2:25P.M., I was wondering how many this year
How many what, what could he be talking about you might ask
How many helpless children will die needlessly and we will not care
How many this year will be hospitalized, on life support or in casks?

You probably could care less, if you did, it would surely help them
Watching soaps like “Days of Our Lives” or “One Life To Live?”
“Soaps” and playing lottery while our children drown in mayhem
Crying about actors and actresses if their children do not survive

Twelve year old girl in real life playing on her street, hit and killed
No only were she killed, the driver ignored her and kept on going
Lives of success and not destruction adults must help children build
For children adults should be about teaching, showing and growing

We must show young people that there really is a success to life
Give up on them they have no choice but to give up on themselves
Father beats a mother, son grows up and he too beats his wife
Adults, to raise our children right, first we must look at ourselves

We do not take responsibility children will think nothing is wrong
Why you buying teenagers cigars knowing they are smoking dope
Young people today do not need weak they need and respect strong
Adults get organized, so for our children’s futures there can be hope

Baltimore City Schools has another Chief but what will that resolve
New Chief, same Indians and the same old soldiers blocking them
If this Chief is to help our children, parents had better get involved
Currently life’s outlook for poor and minority children are very slim

A suggestion, visit the internet, pull up the name, Michelle Goldsborough
There are not one but four women dedicated to given young lives structure
Michelle, Amelia, Sandra and Dominique take sad faces and make them glow
Motivating children instead of, “Crushing The Life Out Of Their Future”

You are the Music

You make the sounds in your own life
When life is high the sounds that you make are loud
Be it in your walk, talk even in your energy
You are your own music in your lessons of life
The pain sounds of a drum
And the love sounds of a sweet sax
You make the music
When the harmony comes from your heart when you speak of encouraging words
The harmony of the harp as you comfort a friend or child
The music of your being pours out of every inch of the body as you embrace life
The melody of you submerging into all aspects of life
The sound of a long blow of the horn
You have blown people out of your way as if they were leaves
You knew it was time to hibernate
You are your own music
You learn all avenues of your life only to become your own band
You stood Solo and sang Acapulco
There were days when you were booed
There were days of cheering you on
Days of deep prayer
You held that note for as long as you could
We chose to sing and play our own instruments until we learn to hit the highest note
Keep dancing, singing and playing until you learn that you are the music,
Your own song and no one can sing it for you.

Hello Everyone, I enjoy writing spiritual poetry, and other kind, of course. Here is one about a Dream, Please!Honest review. I will never become what I want to be, unless I know what I am doing wrong..
My Secret Place.
When I am lonely and tired, and there is hearrache.
I fly away to my Secret Place.

I can be happy there, and it is peaceful.
I need not live in a building, small or grand.

I'd rather lie among the sweet smelling grass.
There I speak to my friends.

The little Deer, over there, has not seen me.
But, when he does, he will come over and touch my face.

My friend the tiny Bird, he flies withe me, sometimes.
There he is soaring all around, with his little wings.

Yes, this is my Secret Place, I have many friends here.
They don't criticize, try to hurt me, give me pain.

They simply play with me, and love me, as I love them.
Never once have I heard a single complaint from any.

They don't worry how they look, and each is beautiful.
None has ever questioned why I am here, they accept me.

I need not think about my disfigured fingers, I feel no pain.
When I am here, all is wonderful and I am in awe.

There is so much to enjoy in my Secret Place.
My friend, the Bear does not fear me, or I him.

He comes to me and lies at my feet, quietly.
As does the Mountain Lion, they talk to each other.

Though I am not among people, I am happy.
I have a wonderful friend, He is best of all.

His name is Jesus, and He lives here in my Secret Place.
I cannot see Him, but I know He is here.

I feel His warmth, I feel His loving touch.
As I hear the soft wind, and see the sky above.

I know the things that are pleasing Him.
And so they are with me, I follow His footsteps.

I see them not, but my heart directs my path.
There is a rainbow above me in this Secret Place.

How beautiful are the colors, how can this happen?
He who can make the Sun rise in the morning.

Place the moon in a certain place, full at times.
He can make a ranbow, can you? I cannot.

He is my friend here in my Secret Place.
I come to visit when I am tired , loney.

He gives me rest, and comforts me.
When my heart aches for someone who is lost.

He waves His wand and shows me a waterfall.
The rushing water, clear and clean fills my cup.

I can put aside whatever makes me sad.
He shows me what really matters in His world.

Fancy homes cars and boats, will fade away.
But, here in my Secret Place, I need no car, no boat.

I close my eyes, and I am here with my friends.
There is much to eat here, the fruits of the trees.

This place is free from the worries of the word.
No need to rush I will stay awhile, He is calling.

Okay folks. I wrote that a while ago, what so you think.

Smart Alec Treadmill

A man awoke in the middle of his life to wonder:
How did who we are get to being
one put down after the next
with sleep and label brand placements
in between?
What scared him most was his inability to
give himself a straight answer.

I did this one a few weeks ago. Tell me what y'all think.
