Hello, I'm new to all of this but I'm exciting that my African American Brother's AND Sister's are involved in such positive things. It is great to be a Black women in this day and age because we simply do not always realize just how important we are to each other to our families and to the larger communities around us. Even though we may not hear everyday on a regular basis that we are important do not get discouraged. It was only today where two people separate from each other gave me great compliments on my professionalism out of the blue and I was so very honor to hear my colleagues say such positive things about me. Anyway keep prayerful and do not be discouraged.

P.S.
Whether or not you voted for Barack Obama pray for his him and his families safety because he is our President.

Take care
God Bless

I woke up early this morning and headed out to the polls. I got there around 6:30 a.m. and there was already a line (PA polls opened at 7 a.m.). I stood in line chit chatting with my fellow voters on this lovely morning. The poll station had some minor issues but, we moved pretty quickly. After I voted and yes for Obama I noticed a woman maybe in her early twenties bent over in line. I asked her if she wanted a seat and yes she was very pregnant! She looked up holding her belly and said " I'm in labor but, I can't leave until I vote! I'm vote than head to the hospital!" I was speechless.... Having two children of my own I know the pain of contractions pulling your pelvis apart. If she can come out and VOTE than I know all of you can do the same. It's NOW or NEVER TIME!!!! Please go out and VOTE TODAY!!!!

Good Morning Coffee Talk:

I just wanted to stop buy and give a big "Shout Out" to Tonny Brown for contributing a wonderful and well received article to The Village Griot.

Tonny has joined the family of contributing writers for my free online subscription newsletter; along with others from right here on BAS. The Village Griot is spiritually focused, with words of wisdom, meditation quotes, poetry, author showcasing, and articles or stories based on monthly themes.

What is a griot? A griot [gree-oh, gree-oh, gree-ot] is a member of a hereditary group among the peoples of western Africa whose function is to keep an oral history of the tribe or village and to entertain with stories, poems, songs, dances, etc.

Interested in becoming a contributing writer? Contact me via sms@akihoro.com and include Writing for the Griot in the subject line.
