Agents of Literary Change

This is a tribute that I wrote to my son for his 21st Birthday; he was born on Christmas Day, enjoy.

Son of mine

As I gaze into your troubled eyes I am at once proud that you have come to me with your problems and at the same time ready to attack the one who has hurt my son . . . this son of mine.

I've watched you sleep on countless nights as your face changed slowly, gradually from boy to man.

Your hair from soft curls to the Lion's Mane of locs that now hang mid-way your back. And I reach out and gently brush one from your face as you sleep, your countenance as angelic as ever. My son . . . this son of mine.

Where is the one for me you ask, everybody has somebody but me, you say. Be patient my son, God is preparing an angel for you and she'll be here soon enough, my son . . . son of mine.

Enjoy your time, don't fret away the days, don't worry about tomorrow, it comes much too soon.

Embrace your time of carefree days, no real bills to pay, laugh, cry, enjoy your friends for soon enough you will awaken with gray in your beautiful hair and gentle lines around your eyes from the laughter of years gone by.

I love you more than life can say as I await Christmas Day, your birthday some 21 years ago . . . where have they gone . . . And on that day, I'll bid farewell to the boy that has now become a man.

But in my heart you will always be my little boy, my little man, my son . . . son of mine.

I love you more . . . Son of mine.

Thank you Jill. I am not a poet at all, try though I may LOL! I wrote this one morning prior to my son's 21st Birthday. I've been a single mom since he was 3 yrs old. On that morning I was thinking back on all we've come through and I thought, we've made it. :)

Yep, the power of "facts" on the internet. Ain't it grand? People take forwards as gospel. Do you all also believe that Barack Obama shouldn't be president because he's not an American citizen? It' says he's not on the internet! I kinda wanted this…
