The ordinary becomes extraordinary in this set of short stories set in everyday life and family scenes. In it, author Gail Gunter walks readers through a series of vignettes, sometimes haunting, sometimes endearing, in which they recognize the comfort and adventure that play out in our day-to-day living.

For example, in “Predator Among Us,” two boys find themselves home alone and at the mercy of a strange caller - which will make any mother’s hair stand on end. One of the boys, though, displays a quick wit and sharp decision-making that may just save the day. Tuck yourself in with this one to get a glimpse of the thoughts and actions of a potential predator, along with invaluable insight into the benefits of a mother’s lifelong teaching – which actually sticks with her son.

Meanwhile, take a look at the short story “Summer Camp” to restore your hope for humanity. Two girls, right at the cusp of adulthood, are challenged by a camper who has needs and behaviors far out of their range of skill. How do these young adults react?
