SMALL STUDIO SPACE FOR URBAN COMIC BOOK ARTISTS OPENING IN JANUARY 2009.

Los Angeles, CA -- November 28th, 2008 -- Many young comic book artists in large urban areas have often complained that they can't find others who share their interests and can't find a quiet place to draw or design artwork.

Two comic book creators who have been through the same thing realized that there might be some artists out there who need to get away from their homes and do artwork in peace and quiet. East Coast-native Brandon Easton and West Coast-native Dave Lewis decided to open up space in their large apartment for studio space for illustrators.

"When I was growing up in the inner city of Baltimore as a child, I had a good number of friends who loved comic books but seemed afraid to show it for fear of being labelled a 'geek' or a 'nerd,'" said screenwriter Brandon Easton (who recently moved from NYC to pursue his dream of being a Hollywood writer), "so when I spoke with my roommate Dave about providing a safe space for young artists in the inner city, he jumped at the idea."

Dave Lewis grew up in Los Angeles and remembered his own tough patch after high school when few people were supportive of him, "There were those who were surprised that I had talent and often didn't take it seriously because it was only comic books. In their mind, it wasn't a legitimate career path." Dave believes the studio, "Will be a serious workspace for someone serious about a graphic design career.

The new studio will be called Visual Concepts Studios (VCS) and will select from a pool of artists who apply for their limited space. VCS studios will offer: Wi-Fi access, versions of Photoshop and Illustrator available for the MAC format, scanners, FAX, a central phone number and email address for business calls, ample drawing space for desks and easels, and for an extra fee, kitchen and laundry access. There is ample parking in the area.

VCS will create new comics and video game properties to shop in Hollywood and abroad. All studio members will benefit from whatever is created. VCS will offer a $50.00/per month fee as an introductory rate. Interested artists should contact Dave or Brandon ASAP via email/phone. Spaces will be opening on January 2nd, 2009.
