Where are the black books for Young Adults and the tweeners? Most of the books that I see have such depressing themes of abuse, drugs, and pregnancy that they would not make a good gift book. I am trying to find African American books and authors to add to the Books of Soul site (booksofsoul.com) or to share at the Books of Soul store (http://astore.amazon.com/booofsou-20) for some holiday gift-giving. Any suggestions?
Take a look at my website www.nightowl5869.net.
I have books on a story from the 60s and poetry with a taste of history and humor. Our young people need to be informed of their heritage, but not turned off with boredom. Perhaps you may see something there of interest. The videos on the website may help you decide if this is what you're looking for. I've attached a file as well.

There are plenty if you are prepared to broaden your search parameters.

Over here in England there are a few books, mine amongst them Star Chamber by Antony James (published by pneuma springs publishing ISBN 978-1-905809-56-1). It is very urban but college and university students seem to like it.

Also, Malorie Blackman Noughts and Crosses trilogy, Alwex Wheatle Brixton rock and many more. I am sure that American readers will understand and love 9like) any of these which I recommend. You have simply to remember that there are a lot of us writers in this country who would love to bring our products to you, but struggle to either get published and/or noticed, maybe your sources would be able to help and assist.

Advice on Exploring Erotica in Your Writing

MediaBistro's Morning Media Menu had a conversation with author Jamie Brenner about advice for writers looking to explore this newly crowded genre. An excerpt from Brenner: My first erotic novel came out two years ago. The landscape feels completely different. There is not just the hope to reach a mainstream audience with erotic novel, but the expectation that success is reaching everyone, not just the genre readers. Fifty Shades of Grey really raised the bar for that. At the same time, working…See More
