DON'T GET DOWN-GET UP & DO MORE! - A Note to ALL SELF-PUBLISHED AUTHORS!
Hello Fellow Authors,
My name is Tracie E. Christian and I just wanted to take a minute to offer some words of encouragement to everyone here. With the economy being at a virtual stand still (to put it mildly), if any of you are anything like me, your book sales rise and fall much like the sun. I just want you to know that there's always a silver lining in the darkest of skies. I thought people were too broke and angry about life to even want to take the time to read my book about the black college experience, much less actually buy it! I want you to know that I was so wrong and one-sided in that assumption and here is why.
Even though I have yet for my book to lead me to jumping up and down on Oprah's couch and I am still what one might call broke as a joke, I still find funds to spend on entertaining myself. I have bought items from music, to books and even booze on occassion just to keep my spirits up. So, why should I think others don't do the same? Come to find out they have. Over the last few weeks I have received a wealth of emails from people I don't even know who have either read my book, (meaning they bought it already) or they heard about it and want to know where to buy it. I've recieved better reviews from people I don't know than I have from the people I do know.
This just proves that one never knows where the next blessing is going to come from or when it might emerge from the shadows of self-doubt to make your day! So, whatever you are doing to write that book, KEEP ON DOING IT! Don't get down on yourself, just get up and do some more! The pay off is coming! Can't say when or where or even how, (and if I could I bet that would get me to Oprah) but it is coming. What ever you're doing to promote your books, KEEP ON DOIN IT! What ever you're doing, Just KEEP DOING YOU! Follow the path your dreams and hard work puts you on and just sit back, kick it and enjoy the ride! I employ all my fellow authors, writers, poets and the like to simply WRITE ON becuase your grind is RIGHT ON! Peace & Blessings Always!
