Agents of Literary Change

You know, in any artistic endeavor where the artist gains enough confidence to put their work "out there" for public scrutiny, feedback is very, very important. That's one of the great reasons for a wonderful site like this one where everyone can connect, share ideas, network, give support... and a writer, like any other artist, wants to know if their work had an impact, made someone think, or at least was enjoyed by someone. I recently received an email that, although short, kind of made my day and I'd like to share it with you. Here it is...

Hi Arnold -

I hope you are doing well. I just wanted to touch base with you and make sure you received my email with the ad copy. If you could please get back to me with any changes sometime today, I would appreciate it. Also, if you have any questions please feel free to call me on my cell phone. By the way, I am right in the middle of your book and am really enjoying it. Having worked at Forensic Files for three years, I am always very critical of crime novels because many times they are just not true to life, but your's is very good. You can tell you did your research!

Have a great day,

I cut out her name and phone number for her privacy, but I'm really proud of her opinion regarding my novel. Thank you.

SPAM IS SO NOT COOL!

Please do not greet everyone on the site with large images and announcements of your book or business. Yes, you want to tell the world, but learn the fine art of subtlety. A simple welcome and signature/link is fine. Let them ask you for more.
We have lost numerous members because of the amount of 'friend' mail they instantly receive. This Hurts Everyone.
