Nanette,

Thanks for your information. I have decided to self-publish my next book titled An Expose of the Holsy Spirit. I too need a publicist.

Try Afrika Midnight Asha Abney. I used her for a while and was pleased with the results. She even designed my website at http://www.authorsden.com/vickiemoliverlawson

Please check it out when you get a minute.

I'm feeling you on this one. I have had some problem with one particular publisher and delivering my product in a timely manner. I need a little more practice before I can self-publish from beginning to end.

Even when you are published by a major publishing house, these days they expect you to do all the work yourself. You have to promote the book yourself, and you probably don't have their resources. Plus they even want you to do the market research before they take you on.

You are much better off self-publishing. You could get picked up by a major later.

My two recent books, Black Success Stories and Success Strategies for Black People, are both self-published

I am setting up an online book promotion campaign. Check out my profile for details.

Whom would you recommend locally (MD, DC, VA, DE) for the process from beginning to end.

Ms. Lawson,

Personally PublishAmerica I would not recommend, they are in the MD area. They published my first book but that is it I will self-publish from now own. Currently I am working on taking this book from them and publish it under my (Good Shepherd Writing and Publishing LLC) logo and brand. Colorhousegraphics from Grand Rapids MI will charge me for the printing work, cover design, and they have a distribution network so when I or my readers/customers needs books it's no problem.
Then there is Outskirt Press from Charolettville VA, you pick your publishing platform. I have talked with a guy name Chris Kline. www.Outskirtpress.com. Email me direct at white3285@sbcglobal.net and I will forward the direct link.

I have self published my first book, Semmaster's Thoughts (Life of A Little Man), cover and all with the help from my nephew, Kris L Stephens's caligriphy. I am now putting the finishing touches on my second self published book, Songs Of Semmaster. My first book was released June of 2007.
