The Harlem Book Fair is the oldest, largest, and most well-known African American literary festival in the United States. Located in the vicinity of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and the Harlem Y (where Langston Hughes stayed as a young man), the book fair was attended by over 70,000 visitors and 300 exhibitors last year. In addition to several award ceremonies and panels, the book fair showcases the talents of poets and novelists in ongoing dramatic readings throughout the day. Join me on DMBF Radio as I interview HBF Founder Max Rodriquez about the past, present, and future of the Harlem Book Fair.
